Heaven’s War Chess

Wutianqi is a chess-like board game influenced by collectible card games such as Magic: The Gathering.

Players put together their army from pieces in their collection and compete to capture their opponent’s emperor.

Because there are hundreds of different pieces, the tokens themselves show their possible moves.

Players can glance at all of the pieces on the board and know each and every possible movement merely by learning what a few colors or shapes indicate.

The game is in active development and prototypes have been made of both the board and tokens.

Eventually, this game will be sold online and (hopefully!) in stores.

The instructions are free and there is both a printable starter set and a game board. These will remain free even after Wutianqi starts being sold, though you’ll miss out on a huge variety of tokens and a prettier rulebook.
