Wutianqi Prototype Rules Update!

Just a small update today, though there’s been quite a bit of work under the hood.

Much of this under-the-hood work is for Wutianqi but isn’t going to be publicly released for a long while ye. Oooh, Mysterious!

However, over a thousand words have been added to the rulebook! You can find these extra words over at the Wutianqi download page, but I must warn you: They don’t change the game. You don’t need to update your printed copy of the rulebook.

Sure, some of these additions add options to the game. But, not all of these options can be realized with just the printable playset.

The biggest additions are two new game modes: Kidnap and Rescue. The are similar-yet-different additional win conditions.

Transforming pieces are cool and will add strategic variety.

And there are more handicap ideas, if you think you’re a Wutianqi big shot who plays only with the little fellas.

And annoyingly, I made some quality of life improvements to the token design which will force me to update each and every token I’ve designed and has rendered all of my printed tokens obsolete.

Such is life in game design.
